Growing up on the coast of Maine and coming from a family of women artist's, Jen developed an appreciation for art and an eye for design at an early age. Inheriting a strong connection to nature thru sailing and skiing Jen has always been inspired by all things organic and natural. After dabbling in jewelry making thru her teenage years, Jen moved to Montana and studied Art and Metalsmithing at Montana State University. Jen followed this training up with a four year apprenticeship with a local jewelry designer. Returning to Maine to be close to family and the ocean Jen began working towards creating her own line of Jewelry.
Quickly establishing herself in the thriving Portland Art scene, in 2007 Jen Burrall Designs opened the doors to it's own retail-studio space in Portland's Munjoy Hill neighborhood. While culturally diverse, this area offers breathtking panoramic views of Casco Bay and it's islands and lighthouses.
Over the years Jen's jewelry has evolved while maintaining a strong tactile design creating an organic feel thru the use of natural elements. These elements include semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls and the use of recycled gold, silver, copper and brass. Textures are hand imprinted on the metal and then enhanced with a dark oxidized patina.
Her work can be found in Galleries and at Art Shows across the country.
